One of my favorite features of the Yadle Desktop app is the ability to click on “Open” in the search results and launch the associated app. But I am a Linux user and not everything I see in search results has a viewer - or at least an installed viewer - on my Ubuntu system.
So I am starting a thread here to share the names of FOSS applications that can be used to view various files types not only on Linux but also on Windows & MacOS.
First up, I have a lot of Adobe Illustrator files on our NAS that I wanted to browser through. The default doc viewer (evince) says it can open .ai files, but it didn’t work for me. My solution was to install ‘qpdfview’ , then change the file associate for .ai files on Linux to that apps.
